Black transgender model Emira D'Spain becomes the face of Victoria's Secret for the first time

25-year-old Emira D'Spain reported this on her social networks

Victoria's Secret transgender model Transgender black model Emira D'Spain became the face of Victoria's Secret © Emira Dispeyn - model and TikTok star (XOXOEMIRA) became the face of the popular lingerie brand Victoria's Secret. Emira announced this on her Instagram by posting a photo in the brand's lace corset.

As a child, I always dreamed of being part of the Victoria's Secret team - this is a great honor for me, D'Spain wrote.

And on TikTok, she posted a video dedicated to Valentine's Day, which she also shot as part of her work with the brand. In it, she showed how you can spend a holiday, even if you do not have a soulmate.

The brand's collaboration with D'Spain is a departure from Victoria's Secret's controversial relationship with trans representation. In a 2018 interview, then marketing director Ed Razek said that he thought the annual show "should not include transgender people because the show is a fantasy." Razek later apologized for his comments, reported USA Today.

To be clear, we would definitely choose a transgender model in our show. We had transgender models who came to castings ... And, like many others, they did not succeed. But it was never about gender. I admire and respect their desire to understand who they really are, Razek said then. The very next year, the company first attracted transgender model Valentina Sampaio to the show. And now Victoria's Secret began to work with black transgender people in the person of Emira. D'Spain has also worked with major brands such as Google, Anastasia Beverly Hills and Fenty Skin.
