Today at noon the wedding of the 40-year-old Grand Duke George Romanov, who calls himself the heir to the Romanov dynasty, and the 39-year-old daughter of the Italian diplomat Rebecca Bettarini took place in St. Petersburg in St. Isaac's Cathedral. The beloved married a couple of days ago, but today the church ceremony took place.

This is the first wedding of representatives of the House of Romanov in Russia in more than 120 years. However, it should be noted that the organization "Association of Members of the Romanov Family", which includes most of the descendants of the imperial family, does not recognize the "Russian Imperial House", of which George Romanov is a representative. By the way, none of the Romanovs got married in Isaac either - weddings took place in the church of the Winter Palace.

The bride appeared in the cathedral in a white Reem Acra dress with an almost two-meter train, which was decorated with a coat of arms, and in the Chaumet tiara. The ceremony was conducted by the Metropolitan of St. Petersburg and Ladoga Varsonuphius.

The ceremony at the temple was reportedly attended by about a thousand guests, as well as many media representatives who reported on the event. Among those invited there are also representatives of foreign aristocratic families, for example, Prince of Venice Emmanuel Philibert of Savoy, the last Tsar of Bulgaria Simeon II, King of Egypt Ahmed Fuad II, head of the Albanian royal house Leka II Zogu, head of the Portuguese royal house Duarte Piu. At the cathedral, the newlyweds were greeted by the guardsmen of the Preobrazhensky regiment.

It is known that Rebecca, according to tradition, converted to Orthodoxy and received the name Victoria Romanovna.

Celebrations on the occasion of the wedding promise to be large-scale. The day before, a reception was held at the Vladimir Palace, which was also attended by Elizaveta Peskova, daughter of the press secretary of the Russian President Dmitry Peskov, and his ex-wife and mother of Elizaveta Ekaterina Solotsinskaya. Interestingly, Peskov himself also had to comment on the wedding at a traditional briefing with journalists.

The Kremlin has no opinion on this matter. We do not consider this to be our question, - said Peskov, adding, however, that they always wish the newlyweds happiness.

The celebration is expected to last for several days. The food is the responsibility of the Astoria hotel chefs and pastry chef Michael Lewis-Anderson, who worked at the Belgian royal court (Rebecca's father worked as the Italian ambassador to this country). Well, tonight the Russian Ethnographic Museum will host a gala dinner for 300 guests, and tomorrow there will be a gala reception for 700 persons in the Constantine Palace.

Recall that the parents of George Romanov are Franz Wilhelm Hohenzollern and Maria Romanova, the granddaughter of Grand Duke Kirill Vladimirovich, who in 1924 declared himself the Russian emperor in exile. However, the rights of Kirill Vladimirovich to the throne were not recognized by the descendants of the Romanovs, since he was deprived of this right by Nicholas II himself due to the fact that he married a divorced cousin against the will of the emperor.
