Dan Balan was supposed to be the host of Romania's national selection for Eurovision on Saturday, March 5th. The contract has been signed. However, the war caught him in Kyiv, where he was filming for the Voice of Ukraine. Thus, the artist was trapped in Ukraine.

Details exclusively for Paginademedia were provided by Yuliana Marchuk, project manager of the national selection for Eurovision.

Yuliana Marchuk told how she managed to bring Jamala to the show, who won Eurovision in 2016, and after the outbreak of the war, she left for Romania with her two children, leaving her husband in Ukraine.

“In the first two days of the war, I contacted Dan Balan through his agent,” Yuliana Marchuk says. - I found him in Kyiv, where he was filming for the "Voice of Ukraine", where he is a member of the jury. Dan Balan tried to leave the country, he wanted to get to Romania. All flights have been cancelled. He even had tickets for several flights, but they were all canceled. After two days of unsuccessful attempts to leave the country, he regretfully informed us that he could no longer participate in the final selection in Romania.”

The last time Yuliana Marchuk spoke to Dan Balan was on Sunday, she also tried to contact him yesterday, March 3, but without success. Dan Balan's last post on Instagram was five days ago, on Monday, February 28th.

"There will be a spark! Be human or you'll get in trouble! God save Ukraine! All my heart is with you!” — wrote Dan Balan.
