Grand Duke George Romanov, descendant of Nicholas II, married Italian Rebecca Bettarini

A 40-year-old descendant of the Romanov dynasty, Grand Duke George Romanov, married his 39-year-old lover, Italian Rebecca Bettarini. The marriage registration took place in the Khamovnichesky registry office of the capital. The modest ceremony was attended only by the closest ones, including the mother of George, Maria Vladimirovna, who bears the title of Empress of All-Russia Maria I.

At the civil ceremony, the bride did not dress up in a white dress: she was wearing a gray-blue dress with a peplum and blue pumps. The image was completed with a large sparkling comb in the hair and an original bouquet of orchids.

After the official registration, the newlyweds went to a small banquet, where, according to Russian tradition, they drank vodka and, in the presence of guests, cut a festive multi-tiered cake. The largest celebration is apparently scheduled for October 1st. On this day, the newly-made spouses will get married in St. Isaac's Cathedral in St. Petersburg.

The engagement of the Grand Duke George Romanov with the director of the Russian Imperial Fund Rebecca Bettarini became known in January of this year. For the engagement, the heir of the House of Romanov presented his beloved with a gold ring with a garnet cabochon and two diamonds. George got the decoration from his mother, who bequeathed to her son to give it to his future bride.

George has known Rebecca for more than 10 years, but at first they were connected exclusively by working relations. In 2020, at the Peter and Paul Cathedral, Bettarini converted to Orthodoxy in order to be with her lover of the same faith. Since that moment, Rebecca has been named Victoria Romanova. In the same year, she was elevated by the mother of George , Maria Vladimirovna, to the dignity of a knight dame of the Imperial Order of the Holy Great Martyr Anastasia the Pattern.

For George Romanov, this marriage was the first, and nothing is known about Rebecca's personal life before meeting him. The chosen one of the Grand Duke has a good education: she knows four languages, and also tries herself as a writer, publishing books under the pseudonym of Georgina Perosh. Since 2019, Rebecca has been living in Moscow with her beloved.
